Austria

The first Multiplier Event in Austria has taken place on 30 November, 2017 as part of Kreativ Reisen Österreich – Creative Tourism Austria’s annual membership assembly in the small town of Werfen, about an hour’s drive south from the city of Salzburg. More such events are set to follow in the spring & summer of 2018.

With participants being eager to learn more about Social Media marketing, as well as strategic marketing and networking in cultural and creative tourism, a focus has been given to the present edition of the Social Media Guidelines, as well as the contents of Modules 1-4. These modules have already been translated into German, which can be found for download on the EUROPETOUR homepage: http://www.europetour.tips/results/training-modules/deutsch/.

Participants especially enjoyed learning about the virtues of strategic marketing, branding and positioning, as well as how to network and work with professional influencers. With Social Media marketing still not at the forefront of many people’s everyday marketing activities, special interest was given to the discussion about possibilities and opportunities there. At the moment, Kreativ Reisen Österreich is putting together a proposal for the destination of Gastein, and Hotel Mozart Gastein, in order to provide for a successful influencer campaign in the Northern European markets in 2018 – all as a result of the EUROPETOUR multiplier event.

All in all, it has been a successful first event, aided by the fact that the team was received at the Hotel-Restaurant Obauer, which is currently the only restaurant in Austria to have earned four chef’s hats for its excellent cuisine. The venue itself is therefore an interesting case study for the development of rural culinary tourism in the province of Salzburg.
