From December 1st – 4th, the regional tourism association Heilbronner Land, who is one of the ten EUROPETOUR partners, is hosting the first-ever gathering of this prestigious European cultural tourism project. The little town north-west of the Baden-Württemberg capital Stuttgart at the river Neckar is the perfect place for a project focused on European cultural tourism, according to managing director Tanja Seegelke: “Bad Wimpfen is a model for a small historic German city with a rich cultural history in a rural area.”
She highlights the special character of the timbered houses and medieval castles, which are a perfect reason to visit the city for people interested in medieval history. The whole historic city is under monument protection and the touristic activities focus on the cultural heritage. Since 1487, the city has the right to organize a Christmas market in the Advent season. This market is deeply rooted in the history of the small town, bringing thousands of visitors to the city every year.

“It is one of the unique treasures of the Heilbronner Land region and an example for the ambitions of the EUROPETOUR project”, says Tanja Seegelke. “Of course, our aim is to present our European partners this unique place at its best, but we will also discuss just how we can communicate and market this uniqueness in the most adequate way.” Tanja Seegelke expects to benefit strongly from the experiences of the European regions and tourism agencies included in EUROPETOUR.
